Quilt Biscuits

In a large bowl, combine:

2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1/2 cup pastry flour
1/4 cup dry milk powder
2 T. baking powder
2 T. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cream of tartar

Cut in:

 1/2 cup shortening
1/2 cup butter

Make a well and rake in 3/4 cup buttermilk, or a little more as needed

Pat on floured surface into 8 in. or so rounds and cut with a glass or biscuit cutter dipped in flour.

Place on cookie sheet and bake at 400 for 10 min. or until browned.

These biscuits can be used for shortcake or served underneath poached eggs or simply eaten with butter and honey.
